Though Indian bowlers have had two early strikes in the first 7 deliveries of the innings, things didn't go their way later.
Peterson was aggressive right from the beginning. The way he walked in to bat had shown his intent, i.e to be aggressive and positive. Despite the loss of two early wickets Peterson took the attack on the Indians and he succeeded in doing so. While Peterson and Collingwood were going well, Amit mishra in his first over of the day dismissed Collingwood with a beautiful leg spinner. Later Flintoff joined Peterson to put in a partnership of around 150. England batsmen have shown a positive intent in their batting. They maintained a run rate of above 4 all the day and thanks to some wonderful batting by Peterson. When the score was 280, Harbhajan dismissed the England captain, Lbw. Then James Anderson came in as a night watchman.
With some wonderful bowling from Amit Mishra and great commitment in the field by Gambhir India managed to grab the wicket of Andrew Flintoff on the last ball of the day. This remembers me of something similar to this at the end of a day in the recently concluded series between India and Australia. Michael Clarke was dismissed by the same Amit mishra in the same ground in his debut match on the last ball of the day. On that day, he bowled the last two balls round the wicket on the advice of Dhoni and on the second ball he got Maichael Clarke out Lbw. It seems Mohali is turning out to be a lucky ground to Mishra.
At the end of the day England were trailing India by 171 runs with 4 wickets in hand.
